Discover the ancestral charm of a famous road,

the Vieux-Chemin

Cap-Santé, which counted seven families by 1677, proudly overlooks the St. Lawrence north shore about 40 kilometres west of Québec City.   The village should be enjoyed slowly on foot.  Stroll down to the wharf for a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence.  In salmon migration season, watch them climb the fishway at the mouth of the tempestuous Rivière Jacques-Cartier.

Its Place de l’Église is an exceptional heritage site grouping a monumental church (1754-63), an old covered well from 1799, a presbytery from 1849, a cemetery and a shaded park. The old Chemin-du-Roy (18th century) runs into this square.

This narrow, shady street following the cape is dotted with old houses of indescribable charm in any season. It is particularly lively during special festivals such as Riche en couleurs (Rich in colours - June 24) and Noël d’Antan (Old-time Christmas - end of November).
