The gentle country
In addition to its rich architectural heritage and history, Kamouraska amazes us with the beauty, diversity, harmony and serenity of its natural setting. The summits of nearby Coton and Cabouron mountains provide a sweeping panorama of farmland, villages, seascape and mountains.
The first colonists settled here in 1692. Situated on the south shore of the St. Lawrence estuary, the exceptional view includes eel nets staked in the tidal flats, the Kamouraska archipelago, and a backdrop of majestic Laurentian mountains and wonderful sunsets.
Besides its beautiful traditional houses, Kamouraska has a museum and art centre, cultural and artistic activities, and an array of services and products of the land. South of the village, country roads with picturesque names are great for bicycling.
