Sainte-Rose-Du-Nord (468 residents), once called La Descente des Femmes (The Women’s Descent) according to an Indian tale, hides shyly along the Saguenay fjord in a small grassy valley away from the main highway.

It is surrounded by wooded mountains and capes that give easy access to outstanding panoramas of the fjord and village. This fragile site must be approached with delicacy and respect. .

The village seems to follow the shape of the land, as if an avalanche had delivered its house in a charming lack of order. Rue de la Montagne gives access to hiking trails of the Platform leading to an extraordinary panorama including the farming valley, the winding road, the village, the series of capes and the Saguenay Fjord over dozens of kilometres.

From the heart of the village, you can go down to the wharf or go east on Chemin de la Descente-des-Femmes to a cove of the same name.
